Civil Aviation Authority Training Institute
About the CAATI
The Civil Aviation Authority Training Institute (CAATI), established in the 1970s at the former Palisadoes Airport, trained Air Traffic Controllers for the Civil Aviation Department (later the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority, JCAA).
From 1981 to 1988, it trained only Air Traffic Control Assistants. In 1989, an Australian instructor upgraded the school to provide full Air Traffic Control training. Renamed Civil Aviation Authority Training Institute (CAATI), it relocated to JCAA Headquarters at 4 Winchester Road, Kingston 10.
