Access To Information (ATI)

The Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority is one of the public sector entities which has implemented the Access to Information Act (ATI) of 2002. This Act stipulates that all public sector entities are required to provide citizens access to Government documents, excepting those which are exempted by said legislation.

Exempt Documents

Exempt documents are those documents pertaining to:

  • Security, defense, international relations
  • The Cabinet
  • Law enforcement
  • Legal Privilege
  • The national economy
  • Government’s deliberative processes
  • Business affairs of others (trade secrets, etc.)
  • Personal privacy
  • Heritage sites

Release of Exempt Documents

Exempt documents may be released through an Order of the Minister responsible for Information or after the expiration of 20 years after their creation or such shorter or longer period as the Minister may specify by Order.

How to make a request

Persons wishing to make a request for a public document may do so in person, in writing, by telephone or fax or by e-mail. In making an application, please provide all available information about the document requested in order to expedite the process.
