Travel Information
Welcome to Jamaica !
The JCAA is concerned about your safety, both in the air and on the ground. To ensure that you have a safe and comfortable journey, here are some tips to guide you on your flight:
- Place all travel documents (Passport, ticket, invitation letter, relevant documents etc.) in an envelope or pouch to ensure that you do not forget or misplace them.
- Arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before departure. The advance arrival time is required to facilitate necessary checks and procedures. These include check-in, security screening, baggage handling, and any vital, last minute shopping at one of the many shops in the Departure Lounge.
- For security reasons, travellers are not permitted to carry a number of items, including knives, scissors, firearms, ammunition, liquids, aerosols, gels, and products with similar characteristics in the carry-on bags.
- Passengers may take on board one transparent (one quart / 1 litre) plastic bag containing liquids, gels and aerosols (such as beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, cream, toothpaste, hair gel and spray) in containers of not more than 3.4 ounces or 100 ml.
- All liquids, aerosols and gels are to be declared at the security screening checkpoint.
- Items over 3.4 ounces or 100 ml should be placed in checked baggage.
- Remember, your carry-on baggage is your responsibility. Do not leave it unattended or out of sight.
- Do not accept items from strangers or parcels with content of which you are unaware.
- Pregnant women should not travel by air if they are more than 7 months pregnant, unless air travel is deemed necessary. In such cases, a medical certificate, issued within 12 hours of the flight, is required. This certificate should clearly state that the individual is fit for traveling and the traveller /certifying physician will be required to endorse a document which exempts the air operator(s) from any eventuality that may arise from her state of pregnancy during the flight.
- Remember to place valuables, such as jewellery, laptops, cameras, video cameras, cellular phones, medicines, prescription medicines, money, identification documents, credit cards, travelers cheques, etc. in your carry-on baggage. We also recommend keeping copies of important documents in a safe place, in case of loss or theft of the originals during your trips.
